“We Are Models Not Slaves” Campaign rocs social media!!! (By Thelma Opara)

This is not a rumour… It is 100% facts that Nigerian models are standing up for their rights in this time and age where they are being given less than they deserve…

The hashtag #WEAREMODELSNOTSLAVES has been trending on several social media sites since the early hours of yesterday… The models have aired their grievances in the past but nothing happened… Now the campaign is on for a better future in the modelling industry and want to be heard!!!

“We are Humans and not Mannequins, we have feeling too. We are tired of the 360 we do on stage and yet they see us as nothing and pay us crumbs…. How long will this continue? We work for days and get paid peanuts, #If you can’t afford a model, don’t use them!”

Hopefully this drive will go a long way to prove that beyond beautiful bodies, these models that add colour to countless numbers of fashion runways and commercials do have a voice that counts for something in corporate Nigeria
